Gross fixed capital formation up the most in Obalno-kraška and Goriška
Compared to the previous year, gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) increased by 19.1% in Zahodna Slovenija and by 17.4% in Vzhodna Slovenija. It went up in all statistical regions, the most in Obalno-kraška and Goriška.
In real terms investment up by 4.2%
After the return in the growth of volume of GFCF in 2021 (12.3%), the investment activity continued the following year. GFCF amounted to EUR 12,475 million, which is nominally 18.3% (in real terms 4.2%) more than in the previous year. In the cohesion region Zahodna Slovenija, GFCF was nominally higher by 19.1% and in the cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija by 17.4%.
In both cohesion regions the largest share of GFCF was generated in manufacturing (25% in Vzhodna Slovenija, 21% in Zahodna Slovenija), followed by public administration, defence, education, human health and social work (sections O, P, Q; 23% and 18%, respectively).
Investment rate the highest in the Posavska statistical region
In 2022, 33.8% of GFCF was generated in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region, followed by Podravska (13.4%), Savinjska (11.1%) and Gorenjska (9.0%). The smallest shares of GFCF were generated in Zasavska (1.5%), Primorsko-notranjska (2.0%) and Koroška (3.0%).
Relative to the economic development of the region, the investment rate, expressed as a share of GFCF in the regional gross domestic product, was the highest in Posavska (26.3%), followed by Pomurska (25.6%) and Koroška (25.5%). The rate was the lowest in Osrednjeslovenska (19.2%) and Zasavska (22.1%).
GFCF increased in nominal terms in all statistical regions, the most in Obalno-kraška (by 33.9%), followed by Goriška (by 24.9%) and Jugovzhodna Slovenija (by 22.5%).
Investment activity of the government sector remained high
The general government sector generated a quarter of total GFCF; 15% was generated by central and 10% by local government. In 2022, the government sector GFCF was nominally higher by 28.5%; by 21.2% at the central level and by 40.9% at the local level.
The largest share of general government GFCF was generated in the Osrednjeslovenska region (35.9%), followed by Podravska (14.6%) and Savinjska (9.9%). The smallest shares were generated in Zasavska (1.6%) and Primorsko-notranjska (1.8%).
