Inflation – annual inflation rate

Inflation is a general increase in prices, while the inflation rate shows the percentage increase in prices. In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

Exports and imports in November 2019 higher than in November 2018
Slovenia’s exports and imports in November 2019 were higher than in November 2018, mostly due to increased value of trade with EU non-member countries. In the first eleven months of 2019 combined, the values of exports and imports exceeded EUR 30 billion.

The value of investment and current expenditure was slightly higher than in 2017
In 2018, gross investment for environmental protection was 2.1% higher and current expenditure for environmental protection 12.0% higher than in 2017.

2% more milk collected in November 2019 than in November 2018
More than 44,100 tons of cows’ milk was collected from agricultural holdings in November 2019. Dairies increased the production of butter and decreased the production of cheese and acidified milk.

In November almost two thirds of all tourist overnight stays in hotels
In November 2019 there were more than 290,000 tourist arrivals (1% fewer than in November 2018) and more than 700,000 tourist overnight stays (6% fewer than in November 2018) in accommodation establishments. Foreign tourists generated 63% of all overnight stays.

General government again with a surplus in the third quarter of 2019
In the third quarter of 2019, the Slovenian general government generated a surplus in the amount of EUR 193 million or 1.6% of GDP. Consolidated general government gross debt at the end of the third quarter of 2019 amounted to EUR 32,390 million or 68.1% of GDP.
