Inflation – annual inflation rate

Inflation is a general increase in prices, while the inflation rate shows the percentage increase in prices. In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

In March 2021, inflation at both the annual (0.1%) and the monthly (0.3%) level
In March 2021, inflation at the annual level was at 0.1% and at the monthly level at 0.3%. The prices of goods increased both at the annual (by 0.3%) and at the monthly (by 0.9%) level, while the prices of services decreased both at the annual (by −0.4%) and at the monthly (by −0.8%) level.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, households in Slovenia saved the most to date
The corona crisis in 2020 was reflected in the exceptional values of some macroeconomic aggregates. The surplus of the total economy was the largest to date, households saved a record high share of disposable income and the general government deficit was lower only compared to the 2013 deficit.

Around 45,700 tons of milk was collected from agricultural holdings in February 2021. This was 1.6% less than in February 2020. Dairies increased the production of cream, butter and cheese.

General government generated a deficit of EUR 1,101 million (9.2% of GDP) in the fourth quarter of 2020. Consolidated general government gross debt at the end of the fourth quarter of 2020 amounted to EUR 37,429 million or 80.8% of GDP.

In February 2021, import prices 0.8% higher at the monthly level and 0.6% higher at the annual level
In February 2021, import prices were on average 0.8% higher than in the previous month and 0.6% higher than a year ago. This time the highest monthly increase (by 14.6%) was recorded in the group crude petroleum and natural gas.
