Unemployment rate represents unemployed persons as a percentage of the labour force.
The Labour Force Survey (LFS) is the most comprehensive official household survey in Slovenia. It is aimed to collect data on the situation and changes on the Slovenian labour market. It provides data on size, structure and characteristics of the Slovene labour force and inactive population.

Inflation – annual inflation rate

Inflation is a general increase in prices, while the inflation rate shows the percentage increase in prices. In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

ILO unemployment rate in 2020 at 5.0%, slightly higher than in the previous year
In 2020, there were fewer self-employed, fewer student workers and slightly more employees in labour relation than in 2019. The ILO unemployment rate increased by 0.5 of a percentage point. Absenteeism also increased.

In February 2021, fewer employed persons were working from home than in December 2020
In the past year, the labour market was significantly influenced by the measures to curb the COVID-19 epidemic. In early December 2020, 17% of employed persons were working from home all days in the week, while at the end of February 2021, when some measures were eased, the share was 9%.

The value of industrial production in February 2021 0.6% higher than in January 2021
The total value of industrial production, total turnover in industry and the total value of stocks in February 2021 were higher at the monthly level. Compared to February 2020 the value of industrial production was lower.

Slovenia recorded external trade surplus in February 2021
In the first two months of 2021, Slovenia exported EUR 5.9 billion (or 0.2% less than in the same period last year) and imported EUR 5.3 billion (or 5.4% less than in the same period last year).

1,297 live births and 1,848 deaths in February 2021
According to provisional data for February 2021, 1,297 children were born and 1,848 people died in Slovenia. The numbers of births and deaths were lower than in February 2020, but 2020 was a leap year, so February 2021 had one day less.

In 2020, the number of first registrations of road vehicles in Slovenia 23% lower than in 2019
At the end of 2020, about 1,617,000 road vehicles were registered in Slovenia, almost 113,000 of them for the first time. Government ordinances to curb the COVID-19 epidemic, adopted in 2020, have had a significant impact on the decreasing number of road vehicles registered for the first time.

7 April – World Health Day, 2021 – International Year of Health and Care Workers
For the second consecutive year, the World Health Day is dedicated to health and care workers. At the end of 2019, over 31,000 medical doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nursing professionals and nursing associate professionals were employed in Slovenian healthcare.
