The highest growth in the recycling rate of municipal waste in the last decade

The recycling rate of municipal waste was just over 62%, almost 3 percentage points higher than in the previous year. This is mostly the result of a larger amount of recycled paper and cardboard waste, plastic waste, and animal and vegetal waste. Compared to 2014, the rate increased by more than 26 percentage points.

More than three quarters of all waste (excluding major mineral wastes) recycled

The recycling rate of waste in total (excluding major mineral wastes) was almost 78%, i.e. 3 percentage points higher than in the previous year. The landfill rate of all waste treated (excluding major mineral wastes) was just over 6%, i.e. almost 1 percentage point higher than in the previous year and 4 percentage points lower than a decade earlier.
