Fewer registrations and bankruptcies both monthly and quarterly
Monthly and quarterly, there were fewer registrations (by 2.1% and 1.7%) and bankruptcies (by 6.5% and 12.4%). Quarterly the number of both went down in most observed activities.
Quarterly the number of registrations down in most observed activities
In September, the number of registrations decreased compared to August by 2.1% and to September 2023 by 3.0%. However, it was 6.7% higher than the 2021 average.
In both quarterly comparisons, the number of registrations decreased in the 3rd quarter by 1.7% over the previous quarter and by 1.2% over the 3rd quarter of 2023. On the other hand, it was 8.1% higher than the 2021 average.
Compared to the 2nd quarter, the number of registrations increased only in transportation and storage (by 0.9%) and education, health, social work, arts and other service activities (by 6.3%). It decreased the most in financial, insurance, real estate activities, professional and other business activities (by 5.7%).
Compared to last year’s 3rd quarter, the number also decreased in most observed activities. It increased only in accommodation and food service activities (by 4.3%) and education, health, social work, arts and other service activities except activities of membership organisations (by 4.7%).
Compared to the 2021 average, the number increased the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 28.3%), followed by education, health, social work, arts and other service activities except activities of membership organisations (by 19.4%) and construction (by 14.5%).
… the same in bankruptcies
The number of bankruptcies decreased compared to August and to the 2021 average (by 6.5% and 11.8%, respectively), while it went up in comparison to last September (by 12.5%).
The number of registrations decreased in the 3rd quarter by 12.4% over the previous quarter and by 11.0% in comparison to the average of 2021. On the other hand, it was 19.8% higher than in the 3rd quarter of 2023.
Quarterly, the number increased only in financial, insurance, real estate, professional and other business activities (by 5.4%). On the other hand, it decreased the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 29.6%), followed by industry (by 25.9%) and education, health, social work, arts and other service activities except activities of membership organisations (by 23.4%).
In comparison to last year’s 3rd quarter, the number increased the most in construction (by 103.3%) and decreased the most in education, health, social work, arts and other service activities except activities of membership organisations (by 33.3%).
In comparison to the 2021 average, the number went up the most in transportation and storage (by 45.5%), and down the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 40.2%).

Larger fluctuations in bankruptcy indices may occur due to the small size of Slovenia and consequently the lower number of occurrences in the observed periods and sections of activities.
Data are seasonally adjusted. 14 August 2023 is also taken into account as a day off.
