Slight population increase in the first half
In the first half of 2025, the number of population increased by 136. On 1 July 2025, foreign citizens represented 10.2% of the 2,130,986 residents of Slovenia.
Fewer citizens of Slovenia, more foreign citizens
On 1 July 2025, Slovenia had 136 more residents than six months earlier. In the first half, the number of citizens of Slovenia decreased by nearly 3,200, while the number of foreign citizens increased by over 3,300.
Slightly higher share of women among foreign citizens
The population of Slovenia consisted of 1,072,143 men and 1,058,843 women. The share of women among citizens of Slovenia was 51.0% (this share has been mostly slowly decreasing for a number of years), and among foreign citizens 37.9% (after the drop in the first quarter of 2023, this share has been increasing again).
