Population increase due to positive net migration
In the second quarter the natural decrease and positive net migration continued. Total increase was 348.
Fewer live births and more deaths
In the second quarter of 2025, 4,063 live births and 5,031 deaths were recorded in Slovenia. Compared to the second quarter of 2024, the number of live births was 74 (2%) lower, and the number of deaths 186 (4%) higher. In a year, the value of natural decrease changed from −1.3 per 1,000 population to −1.8.
Fewer marriages and more divorces
In the observed period, 2,162 couples were married and 563 couples were divorced. Compared to the second quarter of 2024, the number of marriages went down by 61 (3%), while the number of divorces went up by 20 (4%).
Decrease in internal migration
In the second quarter of 2025, 23,737 people migrated internally, which is 3% fewer than in the same period of 2024.
Fewer immigrants and emigrants
Compared to the same period of 2024, the number of immigrants to Slovenia decreased by 15% to 6,085. The number of emigrants decreased by 1% to 4,769. The number of citizens of Slovenia who emigrated abroad (1,133) was lower than the number of foreigners (3,636).
Positive net migration was recorded for foreign nationals (1,604 persons), while 288 Slovene citizens more emigrated from Slovenia than immigrated to it.
