Import prices down again
Import prices in August were on average 0.2% lower than in July and 1.5% lower than last August. At the monthly level, prices fell the most in the section electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 6.4%) and at the annual level in the group coal and lignite (by 14.6%).
Monthly, prices down the most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning
Compared to July, in August import prices were 0.2% lower. The prices of products supplied from the euro area and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area were both lower by 0.2%.
Energy prices decreased by 2.2% and capital goods prices by 0.2%, intermediate goods prices remained unchanged, while consumer goods prices increased by 0.1%.
This time, prices fell the most in the section electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 6.4%), and increased the most in the group wearing apparel (by 3.7%), which is part of manufactured products, where prices on average remained the same.
Year-on-year, again lower prices in the group coal and lignite
In one year, import prices fell on average by 1.5%. The prices of products supplied from the euro area decreased by 1.3% and the prices of products supplied from the non-euro area by 1.5%.
Import prices went down the most in the section mining and quarrying in the group coal and lignite (by 14.6%), while the highest price decrease was recorded in the group other transport equipment (by 6.9%), which belongs to the section of manufactured products, where prices went down on average by 1.5%.
