Fewer enterprises, more persons employed, higher turnover
In 2017, 195,756 enterprises were registered in Slovenia. They employed 881,920 persons and generated EUR 108,840 million of turnover. The number of enterprises was 0.2% lower than in the previous year, while the number of persons employed and turnover were higher by 2.8% and 10.4%, respectively.

The enterprises in professional, scientific and technical activities prevailed, the largest turnover generated by enterprises in trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles
The share of enterprises was the largest in professional, scientific and technical activities (17.5%), followed by enterprises in trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (13.5%) and enterprises in other activities (10.8%). Most of the turnover was generated by enterprises in trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (31.1%), followed by enterprises in manufacturing (27%) and enterprises in electricity, gas and steam supply (6.7%).

Most of the enterprises are private entrepreneurs and companies
54.7% of enterprises registered in 2017 were natural persons, and 45.3% were legal persons. The most significant among all were private entrepreneurs; there were 48.5% of them. 31.4% of companies were registered, most of them limited liability companies. The rest were other legal persons (13.9%) and other natural persons (6.1%).

The largest increase in the number of medium-sized enterprises; persons employed and turnover increased the most in large enterprises
In 2017, too, micro enterprises were first in terms of the number of enterprises, but compared to 2016 their number decreased by 0.2%.The number of medium-sized enterprises increased the most (by 2.8%), followed by large enterprises (by 2.1%). In 2017, large enterpises were the first in terms of the number of persons employed and the share of generated turnover. In these enterprises the number of persons employed (by 4.0%) and turnover (by 18.8%) increased the most over the previous year.
