A significant increase in the quantity of collected cows’ milk
Milk production has been increasing year-on-year in recent months. This October, over 6% more milk was collected from farms than a year ago. Dairies produced substantially more butter, more acidified milk and less cream.
Milk production still increasing
In October, about 48,500 tonnes of milk was collected from agricultural holdings, which was almost 4% more at the monthly level. Year-on-year, production increased by over 6%, continuing the upward trend that began last August.
On a monthly basis, mainly more butter; production of other products, except cream, also increased
Compared to September, dairies substantially increased the production of butter (by more than 36%). In addition, the production of drinking milk increased by more than 4%, of acidified milk by almost 2% and of cheese by 1%. On the other hand, cream production decreased by almost 7%.
Year-on-year, too, production of butter and acidified milk products up, others down
Compared to October last year, dairies also increased the production of butter the most, by 11%, followed by the production of acidified milk products, by almost 5%. On the other hand, the production of drinking milk and cream went down by almost 7% and of cheese by less than 1%.
In the first ten months, also more butter and acidified milk and less other milk products
Butter production was almost 7% higher and acidified milk production more than 5% higher than in the first ten months of last year. On the other hand, the production of cheese decreased by just over 2% and of cream and drinking milk by almost 2%.
At the EU level, in the first eight months, mainly higher butter production and lower cream production
Dairies in the EU produced almost 5% more butter and increased the production of acidified milk products and cheese by around 2%. Cream production was down by almost 2%, and drinking milk production by more than 1%. Dairies also produced less powdered milk products.
The price of raw milk in the EU slightly up
The price of raw milk in the EU increased by 0.4% in September and amounted to EUR 0.534/kg. In October, it is expected to increase slightly.
