Labour costs annually up by 5.9%
Average monthly labour costs per person in paid employment amounted to EUR 3.238,86. They were the lowest in other service activities, and the highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.
Labour costs higher than a year ago
Average monthly labour costs per person in paid employment for 2024 amounted to EUR 3,238.86, which is an increase of 5.9% over the previous year. The highest share in the labour costs was that of employee’s incomes, 86.9%.
The highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply
Average monthly labour costs per person in paid employment were the highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 4,970.27), followed by financial and insurance activities (EUR 4,737.83), and the lowest in other service activities (EUR 2,463.08), followed by accommodation and food service activities (EUR 2,571.80).
In the EU, the highest in Luxembourg and the lowest in Bulgaria
According to Eurostat’s data and methodology (all activities, except agriculture, forestry and fishing and public administration and defence, compulsory social security, and in business entities with more than 9 employees), average labour costs per hour worked were the highest in Luxembourg (EUR 55.2), followed by Denmark (EUR 50.1) and Belgium (EUR 48.2). For the same period the lowest average labour costs per hour worked were recorded in Bulgaria (EUR 10.6), followed by Romania (EUR 12.5); the EU average was EUR 33.5. In Slovenia average labour costs per hour worked in the mentioned activities and business entities amounted to EUR 27.1, which ranked our country between Italy (EUR 30.9) and Spain (EUR 25.5).
