Consumer prices up by 2.6% at the annual and down by 0.4% at the monthly level
Higher prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages had the largest impact on annual inflation. The largest contribution to monthly deflation came from lower prices of package holidays.

In September, consumer prices increased by 2.6% at the annual level. In the same month last year, inflation stood at 0.6%.
In one year, service prices increased on average by 2.8% and goods prices by 2.5%. Non-durable goods prices went up by 3.2%, semi-durable goods prices by 2.0% and durable goods prices by 0.4%.
The annual growth rate was pushed up the most (by 1.3 percentage points) by 7.0% higher prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages. These were followed by higher prices in restaurants and hotels (by 4.9%, contributing 0.4 p.p.) and in health (by 4.8%, contributing 0.3 p.p.).
… and on monthly deflation from lower prices of package holidays
Compared to August, consumer prices were on average lower by 0.4%.
Towards the end of the summer tourist season the prices of package holidays fell by 12.7% and contributed 0.6 p.p. to deflation. Additionally, 0.1 p.p. was added each by lower prices of accommodation services (by 6.1%), operation of personal transport equipment (by 0.7%) and food (by 0.5%).
On the other hand, due to the end of summer sales and transition to the autumn–winter collection, clothing prices grew by 12.0%, which eased the deflation by 0.5 p.p.
Harmonised indices of consumer prices
Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, this September the annual growth of consumer prices was 2.7% (a year ago 0.7%). At the monthly level, prices were on average unchanged.
In one year, service prices increased on average by 3.8% and goods prices by 2.2%. Non-durable goods prices went up by 2.9% and semi-durable goods prices by 1.2%, while durable goods prices went down by 0.2%.
Annual inflation rates in August 2025 for all EU-27 Member States are available here. Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, in August the annual inflation rate in the EMU countries was 2.0% (same as the month before). In the EU-27 Member States it was 2.4% (also same as the month before). The lowest annual inflation rate was recorded in Cyprus (0.0%) and the highest in Romania (8.5%); in Slovenia it stood at 3.0%.
