Population increase in the first half
In the first half of 2024, the population increased by almost 2,400. On 1 July 2024, foreign citizens represented 9.8% of the 2,126,324 residents of Slovenia.
Fewer citizens of Slovenia, more foreign citizens
On 1 July, Slovenia had 2,375 residents more than six months earlier. In the first half, the number of citizens of Slovenia decreased by almost 3,000, while the number of foreign citizens increased by more than 5,300.
Slightly higher share of women among foreign citizens
The population of Slovenia consisted of 1,069,930 men and 1,056,394 women. The share of women among citizens of Slovenia was 51.1% (this share has been mostly slowly decreasing for a number of years), and among foreign citizens 37.1% (after the drop in the first quarter of 2023, this share has been increasing again).
