The value of industrial production higher
The values of industrial production and turnover in industry increased over the month before as well as compared to last August.
Industrial production at the annual level increased more than at the monthly level
In August, the total value of industrial production was 0.4% higher than in the previous month. In electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it went up by 4.0% and in mining and quarrying by 2.1%, while in manufacturing it went down by 0.2%.
At the monthly level, the value of industrial production increased in consumer goods industries (by 0.4%) and in intermediate goods industries (by 0.3%). On the other hand, it decreased in capital goods industries by 0.9%.
Compared to August last year, the total value of industrial production grew by 7.2%. It was higher in manufacturing (by 8.2%) and in mining and quarrying (by 2.5%), but lower in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 13.6%).
Turnover in industry also up
Total turnover in industry was higher by 2.8% at the monthly level. Turnover in manufacturing increased by 2.8% and in mining and quarrying by 1.0%. In the non-domestic market it grew by 3.6% and in the domestic market by 1.6%.
At the annual level, total turnover in industry was up by 6.2%. It was higher in mining and quarrying and in manufacturing.
The value of stocks down at the monthly and up at the annual level
The value of stocks in industrial production was 0.9% lower than in the previous month, but 7.5% higher than a year ago. At the monthly level, the value of stocks was lower in mining and quarrying and in manufacturing.
