In August, natural change of population still negative
According to provisional data 193 more people died than were born. Compared to the same month of previous year, the number of live births went down by 2% and the number of deaths up by 5%. Natural decrease was recorded.
The number of live births down
In the eighth month of this year, 1,518 children were born in Slovenia, which was 36 or 2% fewer than in August 2023. On average 49 children were born per day (the same as in August 2023).
More deaths
In the observed month, 1,711 residents of Slovenia died. This was 83 (5%) more than in August 2023. On average 55 people died each day (compared to 53 in the same month of 2023).
What do data for September 2024 indicate?
According to the first estimate, 767 residents of Slovenia died between 1 and 15 September 2024. In the same period of last year, this number was lower (758 residents).
