Slightly fewer persons in employment in June
The number of persons in employment decreased slightly in June, with the most significant declines observed in manufacturing and construction. There was an increase in the number of persons in employment in the tourism sector at both the monthly and annual level.

Slightly down monthly, but up annually
In June, there were approximately 946,300 persons in employment, representing a decrease of about 400 persons compared to the previous month. The number of employees went down by just under 600 persons or 0.1%, while the number of self-employed persons increased by almost 200 persons or 0.2%.
The number of men in employment decreased by just over 400 persons or 0.1%, while the number of women slightly increased.
Compared to last June, the number of persons in employment increased by 1.2%. There was a rise in the number of employees (by 1.0%) as well as of self-employed persons (by 2.4%). There were more men (by 1.7%) and women in employment (by 0.5%).

Compared to May, the number of persons in employment increased in 8 sections of activities and decreased in 12. The most significant growth was recorded in accommodation and food service activities, by almost 300 persons or 0.7%, followed by human health and social work activities, by almost 200 persons or 0.3%.
The largest decline was recorded in manufacturing, with a decrease of just over 400 persons or 0.2%, particularly in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (by almost 100 persons or 0.6%). This was followed by construction, where the number of persons in employment went down by about 300 persons or 0.4%.
On the other hand, at the annual level construction recorded the most significant increase, by 5.8%.
Increase in tourism
The number of persons in employment in the tourism sector increased on a monthly basis by 0.6% according to the UNWTO methodology (or by just over 300 persons) and by 0.5% according to the OECD methodology (also by just over 300 persons). Annually, their number also went up – by 1.2% (UNWTO) and 1.7% (OECD).
At the level of statistical regions, the highest monthly growth was recorded in the Obalno-kraška region according to both methodologies (UNWTO 1.8%, OECD 1.5%), while Savinjska was the only region with a decrease (0.2%, 0.1%, respectively).
Among municipalities, Bovec had the highest monthly growth (UNWTO 18.3%, OECD 18.2%), followed by Piran (3.1%, 2.7%, respectively).
On an annual basis, the number of persons employed in tourism increased the most in Ljubljana according to both methodologies (UNWTO 2.3%, OECD 2.6%).

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE
As of January 2024, posted workers are included in persons in employment. As of 1 January 2024, the separate insurance basis for this category of insured persons was terminated, and they are now registered for compulsory social insurance in the same manner as other employees. As of January 2024, caregivers of family members are also included in persons in employment.
