Average earnings lower than earnings for August
Compared to earnings for August, average gross earnings for September were slightly lower (in nominal terms by 2.1% and in real terms by 2.4%).

Average gross earnings for September 2023 amounted to EUR 2,174.70. Compared to earnings for the previous month, they were lower in nominal terms by 2.1% and in real terms by 2.4%. Average net earnings amounted to EUR 1,413.16. Compared to earnings for August, they were lower in nominal terms by 2.0% and in real terms by 2.3%.
Compared to earnings for September of the previous year, they were higher in nominal (gross earnings by 9.5% and net earnings by 9.1%) and in real terms (gross earnings by 1.9% and net earnings by 1.5%).
Earnings lower in both sectors, public and private
Compared to earnings for August, average gross earnings decreased in the public sector by 1.7% (in the institutional sector general government, they went down by 1.0%) and in the private sector by 2.4%.
The highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply
Average gross earnings were the highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 3,323.81) and the lowest in accommodation and food service activities (EUR 1,593.92).
Compared to earnings for August, average gross earnings increased the most in education (by 1.9%). On the other hand, they decreased the most in mining and quarrying (by 6.5%).
