Significantly more passengers in Slovenian ports
In July, 17% more passenger vehicles entered or exited Slovenia via road border crossings than a year earlier. The number of passengers increased in all types of transport. In the port of Koper, 5% more goods were handled.
More passengers in public scheduled transport
Buses in urban public scheduled transport carried more than 2.6 million passengers, which was 9% more than in the previous July. Buses in intercity and international public scheduled transport carried 1.2 million passengers, which was 6% more. They performed 17 million passenger kilometers, which was 4% more.
More passenger cars registered for the first time
In July of this year, around 10,200 road motor vehicles were registered for the first time in Slovenia, which was 4% more than the year before. Of these, almost 6,900 passenger cars were registered for the first time, or 4% more. Of these, 3,800 were new ones, which was 1% more than in July 2022.
Significantly more road border crossings by goods vehicles
9.6 million passenger vehicles entered or exited Slovenia via road border crossings, which was 17% more than in the previous July. The largest share was represented by cars, i.e. 97% of all passenger vehicles. There were 1.8 million goods vehicles, which was 20% more than the year before, half of which were light trucks.
Passenger kilometres performed in rail transport up by a fifth
Trains carried 1.3 million passengers, which was 12% more. They performed 94 million passenger kilometres, which was a fifth more than last July.
Slightly less goods handled at airports
About 150,000 passengers departed from or arrived at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, which was 20% more than in July 2022. 922 tonnes of goods were handled, which was 7% less.

In July 2023, 375 ships arrived in or departed from Slovenian ports, which was 6.5% more than in the same month of the previous year, of which 106 ships were for the transport of passengers. In total, 33,600 passengers were counted, which was over 50% more than in July last year. 1.8 million tonnes of goods were handled in the port of Koper, which was 5% more. By type of cargo, handling of goods in containers was highest this July (0.7 million tonnes or 38% of total cargo).

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE
Data on road public scheduled transport for the last 12 months are provisional. With each release the data for this period can be corrected and supplemented with new data. They become final with an annual release.
Data on port traffic published by SURS may differ from the data published by ports in their reports. The differences are due to the use of different methodologies (different data sources, tare consideration, etc.).
