Import prices in October were lower than in the previous month
After a long period of monthly price growth, the prices of imported products decreased by 0.6% in October 2022 (negative growth was last recorded in October 2020). The price drop was the largest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 46.2%). Annual price growth was 17.7%.
Compared to September 2022, import prices were 0.6% lower. At the monthly level, the prices of products supplied from the euro area were lower by 0.3% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 0.9%.
Energy prices decreased by 7.2%, intermediate goods prices by 0.6%, while capital goods prices increased by 0.4% and consumer goods prices by 0.6%.
The highest decrease was observed in the group electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (46.2%).

From October 2021 to October 2022 import prices increased by 17.7%. In the same period the prices of products supplied from the euro area went up by 16.3% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 19.4%.
The prices of imports increased the most in the section mining and quarrying (by 146.2%), among which the highest increase was recorded in the group crude petroleum and natural gas (180.3%) and coal and lignite (by 203.6%).
