Inflation – annual inflation rate

Inflation is a general increase in prices, while the inflation rate shows the percentage increase in prices. In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

The most common names of residents of Slovenia born on the last day of the year are Silva (153) for women, and Silvo (76) and Silvester (68) for men. Other »December names« are Štefan, Miklavž and Nikolaj for men, and Silvestra, Štefanija and Štefka for women.

In the 3rd quarter of 2024, the export orientation indicator at the level of all activities combined was 44%, the lowest this year. The operating efficiency ratio was the same as in the first quarter. Investment in net sales revenues was the highest this year.

A natural decrease despite more live births
Compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of live births went up by 9%, while the number of deaths was almost the same. Despite that, a natural decrease was recorded: according to provisional data, 316 more people died than were born.

At the annual level and the level of the first ten months, the value of external trade in goods grew, more significantly in imports, mainly due to increased value of operations involving processing in trade with EU non-member countries.

Seven out of ten residents use smart devices or systems
In the first quarter of 2024, 70% of 16–74-year-olds used smart devices or systems. 28% of them had problems using them. 60% of Internet users keep a replaced or unused device, such as a mobile or smartphone, at home.
