In twenty years, the areas under the organic farming control system have increased by almost two and a half times
In 2024, the system of control of organic production comprised 3,968 agricultural holdings, which together cultivated around 56,800 hectares. Compared to the previous year, the number of agricultural holdings increased by 3% and the area by 4%.

Self-sufficiency rates higher than a year earlier in all crop balances
On average 143 kg of fruit, 113 kg of cereals, 104 kg of vegetables, 91 kg of meat, 79 kg of potatoes, 11 kg of eggs, 6 kg of rice and 1 kg of honey were available last year to a resident of Slovenia for consumption.

Higher recycling rate of municipal waste than in the previous year
The total amount of generated waste (excluding major mineral wastes) per capita slightly increased, while the amount of treated waste (excl. mineral) per capita remained at almost the same level. The recycling rate of municipal waste increased again after a decline the year before last.

The value of industrial production increased compared to the previous month but decreased year-on-year.

At the monthly level, the number of registrations went up by 4.9% and the number of bankruptcies down by 30.0%. Quarterly, there were more registrations and bankruptcies at all levels.

More live births than deaths
Compared to September 2024, the number of live births increased by 5% and the number of deaths decreased by 14%. For the first time this year, the natural change was positive, albeit slightly: 28 more people were born than died. On average 51 children were born per day and 50 people died.

10 November, Science Day
This year, Slovenia is celebrating Science Day for the first time. Last year, the largest proportion of government budget funds was allocated to engineering and technology, while the largest proportion of researchers were employed in natural sciences and engineering.

More than half of individuals aged 16 to 74 purchased online
In the first quarter of 2025, 53% of 16–74-year-olds purchased online. 69% of e-buyers bought clothes, shoes or fashion accessories, and a quarter paid for a subscription to streaming services to watch movies or series, e.g. Netflix, Voyo. Among 75–89-year-olds, 7% purchased online.
