Inflation is a general increase in prices, while the inflation rate shows the percentage increase in prices. In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

European Sustainable Development Week
Denmark and the Netherlands had the lowest long-term unemployment rates in 2023. In both countries, it was 0.5%. Germany (69.1%) had the highest recycling rate of municipal waste in 2022.

Significantly more goods handled in the port
Buses in urban public scheduled transport carried more than 2.7 million passengers in July. The number of new pasenger cars registered for the first time went up by a fifth compared to July 2023. In the port of Koper 11% more goods in containers were handled.

Producer prices of animal products at the annual level higher
At the annual level, producer prices of agricultural products were on average higher by 0.5%. The value of purchased agricultural products increased by 6.1%.

Value of purchased roundwood almost the same as a year ago
In July, the total value of roundwood purchased from private owners increased at the monthly level and was almost same as at the annual level.

The value of construction put in place up monthly and down annually
The value of construction put in place in July was 3.2% higher than in the previous month, but 12.0% lower than a year ago.

Construction costs for new residential buildings higher than in the previous quarter
In the second quarter of 2024, construction costs for new residential buildings in Slovenia were higher than in the previous quarter and higher than in the second quarter of last year.

Agricultural input prices slightly higher than in the previous month
Agricultural inputs were slightly more expensive at the monthly level, while at the annual level they were still cheaper. In monthly comparison, prices increased in the groups of energy and lubricants, and of veterinary expenses.

The European Mobility Week will take place from 16 to 22 September
This year’s European Mobility Week emphasises that the quality of the public space brings many benefits to society. In the 2008–2022 period, the amount of CO2 emissions from road transport in Slovenia increased by 25%. In 2023, passenger cars were on average 11.1 years old. Diesel cars prevailed.

Fuel consumption in forestry enterprises slightly higher than a year before
Compared to 2022, forestry enterprises consumed about 7% more fuel but were using 2% fewer forestry machinery.

CO2 emissions slightly lower
In 2022, CO2 emissions in Slovenia decreased by 3.2% compared to the year before. PM10 emissions were lower by almost a tenth.
