Inflation – annual inflation rate

Inflation is a general increase in prices, while the inflation rate shows the percentage increase in prices. In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

In February 2021, the number of persons in employment up by 0.5% over the previous month
The number of persons in employment in February 2021 was about 885,800. At the monthly level, the number of persons in employment increased in all statistical regions, the most in Osrednjeslovenska.

The COVID-19 epidemic in 2020 affected both the annual decrease in the volume of national road motor vehicle traffic on the domestic and foreign road network and the annual decrease in the volume of national and foreign road motor vehicle traffic on the national road network.

The value of construction put in place in February 2021 was lower than in the previous month and lower than a year ago.

Foreign travellers who arrived to Slovenia in September and October 2020 spent on average EUR 26 per day
In autumn 2020, foreign travellers came to Slovenia mostly from European countries. More than 80% of them were in transit. Same-day visitors arrived for business reasons or to visit relatives and friends. On average travellers spent more money compared to the summer months.

Average gross earnings for February 2021 1.6% lower than earnings for January 2021
Average gross earnings for February 2021 amounted to EUR 1,946.07. They were lower than earnings for January 2021, in nominal terms by 1.6% and in real terms by 1.9%.

Producer prices of agricultural products in February 2021 on average 4.8% lower than in February 2020
In February 2021, the producer prices of agricultural products were on average 4.8% lower than in February 2020. The value of agricultural products purchased in February 2021 was 1.5% lower than in February 2020 and 2.1% lower than in January 2021.

The value of roundwood purchased in February 2021 about 18% lower than in February 2020
In February 2021, EUR 5.1 million of roundwood was purchased from private owners in Slovenia, which is about 98% more than in the previous month and about 18% less than a year ago.

In February 2021 the monthly price increase of agricultural inputs much higher
In February 2021 agricultural input prices increased compared to January 2021 on average by 2.2% (in January 2021 the monthly price growth was  at 1.1%), while compared to February 2020 they were higher on average by 2.9%.

Almost the same amount of goods carried by Slovenian goods vehicles in 4th quarter 2020 as in 4th quarter 2019
Despite COVID-19, in the 4th quarter of 2020 Slovenian goods vehicles carried almost the same amount of goods as in the 4th quarter of 2019. International transport strengthened, though the total amount of goods carried and the number of tonne-kilometres performed were at similar levels as in 2019.

Upgrade of statistics for monitoring the transition to a circular economy and upgrade of environmental accounts
Existing statistical data on imports and exports of waste are of high quality and show the actual picture. A methodology for monitoring imports and exports of secondary raw materials and the level of expenditure on climate change has been established. All this and more was developed by SURS.
