In Slovenia, twice as many tourist overnight stays in October 2021 as in October 2020
In October 2021, tourist accommodation establishments in Slovenia recorded almost 1.2 million tourist overnight stays, which is 119% more than in October 2020 and 11% more than in October of record-breaking 2019.
In October 2021, domestic tourists generated 65% of all tourist overnight stays
In October 2021, tourist accommodation establishments in Slovenia recorded almost 451,300 tourist arrivals and almost 1.2 million overnight stays.
Domestic tourists generated almost 290,000 arrivals (twice as many as in October 2020 and as in October 2019) and almost 774,200 overnight stays (88% more than in October 2020 and 135% more than in October 2019).
Foreign tourist generated almost 161,500 arrivals (three times more than in October 2020, but 52% fewer than in October 2019) and almost 411,900 overnight stays (two times more as in October 2020, but 44% fewer than in October 2019).
Most foreign overnight stays generated by tourists from Austria, Germany and Italy
Most overnight stays among foreign tourists in October 2021 were generated by tourists from Austria (almost 64,300 or 16% of all foreign overnight stays). They were followed by tourists from Germany (13%), Italy (13%), Croatia (5%), and Serbia (5%).
In October 2021, most tourist overnight stays recorded in health (spa) resorts
As regards the types of municipalities, most tourist overnight stays in October 2021 were recorded in health (spa) resorts (almost 338,900 or 29% of all overnight stays), followed by seaside resorts (23%) and mountain resorts (20%).
In October 2021, more tourist overnight stays than in October 2020 were recorded in all types of tourist municipalities. In health (spa) resorts 94%, in seaside resorts 91%, in mountain resorts 185%, in Ljubljana 206%, in urban municipalities 105% and in the group of other municipalities 121% more.
In October 2021, more than a half of all tourist overnight stays in hotels
Domestic and foreign tourist generated in October 2021 the most overnight stays in hotels (almost 620,900 stays or 52% of all overnight stays and 116% more than in October 2020), followed by private accommodations - rented rooms, dwellings (20% of all overnight stays or 137% more than in October 2020) and camping sites (7% of all overnight stays or 135% more than in October 2020).
By the end of October 2021, almost 9.8 million tourist overnight stays
From the beginning of January to the end of October 2021, almost 3.5 million tourist arrivals (13% more than in the same period in 2020) and almost 9.8 million overnight stays (8% more than in the same period in 2020) were recorded in Slovenia.
