Exports and imports in July 2021 higher than in July 2020

In July 2021, Slovenia exported and imported in value terms more goods than in July 2020. Exports and imports amounted to EUR 3.5 billion. Higher values of exports and imports compared to July 2020 can be attributed to increased trade with EU Member States as well as with EU non-member countries.

In July 2021, too, exports and imports higher than in July 2020

In July 2021, Slovenia exported EUR 3.5 billion of goods, an increase by 17.3% compared to July 2020, and imported EUR 3.5 billion of goods, an increase by 26.0% compared to July 2020. The export-import ratio was 98.9%. External trade deficit was recorded, which amounted to EUR 0.04 billion.

This year’s July values of exports and imports were higher than the values of exports and imports in July 2019, i.e. before the COVID-19 epidemic. In value terms, exports in July 2021 were 14.2% higher than in July 2019, while imports were higher by 13.7%.

External trade with EU Member States and EU non-member countries higher in July 2021 than in July 2020

The value of goods exported to EU Member States in July 2021 was EUR 2.2 billion and was higher by 8.1% compared to July 2020. The value of goods imported from EU Member States was also EUR 2.2 billion and was higher by 15.5% compared to July 2020.

As regards trade with EU non-member countries, Slovenia recorded a somewhat higher share of trade with these countries. Exports to those countries amounted to EUR 1.3 billion in July 2021, an increase by 36.5% compared July 2020, while imports from these countries amounted to EUR 1.3 billion, an increase by 49.2% compared to July 2020.

Exports and imports in the first seven months higher than in the same period of 2020

Between January and the end of July 2021, Slovenia exported EUR 22.6 billion of goods and imported EUR 22.5 billion of goods. Exports were higher by 18.8% and imports by 25.1% compared to the same period last year.

In the first seven months, Slovenia recorded a surplus, albeit smaller than in the same period in 2020. It amounted to EUR 0.2 billion. The export-import ratio was 100.8%.
