In the second quarter of 2021 the highest annual increase in the labour costs in activity education

In the second quarter of 2021, the labour costs per hour worked in Slovenia increased by 3.6% over the same period a year before.

A 3.6% annual increase in the labour costs per hour worked

According to provisional data, in the second quarter of 2021 the labour costs per hour worked in Slovenia increased on average by 3.6% over the second quarter of 2020. For comparison, according to the monthly statistical survey on Earnings of Persons in Paid Employment by Legal Persons, in the same period average gross earnings per person in paid employment went up by 5.7%.

The highest annual increase in the labour costs per hour worked in activity education

Compared to the same period of 2020, in the second quarter of 2021 the labour costs per hour worked decreased the most in activity agriculture, forestry and fishing (by 3.9%) and in activity arts, entertainment and recreation (by 2.7%), and increased the most in activity education (by 6.8%) and in accommodation and food service activities (by 6.6%).

In the first quarter of 2021 the labour costs per hour worked in the EU-27 2.3% higher than a year before

According to Eurostat data as of 31 August 2021, compared to the first quarter of 2020 in the first quarter of 2021 the labour costs per hour worked (agriculture, forestry and fishing is excluded) increased in almost all EU Member States except in Austria, in Ireland, in Malta, in Cyprus and in Netherlands, where they decreased by 2.6%, 2.5%, 2.4%, 1.1% and 0.3%, respectively. They increased the most in Lithuania (by 11.0%). In the same comparison, the labour costs per hour worked in the EU-27 increased by 2.3% and in Slovenia by 10.3%.
