The consumer confidence indicator lower for the fifth consecutive month

In November 2021, the consumer confidence indicator was 2 percentage points lower at the monthly level but 7 percentage points higher at the annual level.

Consumers more pessimistic than in the previous month

November 2021 was the fifth consecutive month in which the consumer sentiment deteriorated compared to the previous month. This time it fell by 2 percentage points (p.p.).

The monthly decrease in the confidence indicator resulted mainly from more pessimistic consumer expectations about the country’s economy (9 p.p.), and about households’ finances (by 1 p.p.). On the other hand, expectations about major purchases slightly improved (by 1 p.p.). The indicator of consumer opinion on current households’ finances retained the level of the previous month.

Consumer opinion improved at the annual level

The value of the consumer confidence indicator in November 2021 was 7 p.p. higher at the annual level and 1 p.p. below last year’s average.

All four components of the consumer confidence indicator improved at the annual level: expectations about the country’s economy by 12 p.p., expectations about major purchases by 6 p.p., current households’ finances by 4 p.p., and expectations about households’ finances also by 4 p.p.
