On 1 April 2021, Slovenia's population was 2,107,126 or 0.1% less than three months earlier
The number of Slovene citizens decreased by over 2,200, and the number of foreign citizens increased by 400 in the first quarter of 2021. The share of foreigners in the population was 8%.
Fewer citizens of Slovenia, more foreign citizens
The population of Slovenia decreased by 1,851 in the first quarter of 2021. The number of citizens of Slovenia decreased by more than 2,200, while the number of foreign citizens increased by 400. The share of foreign citizens in the population was 8.0% on 1 April 2021, same as three months earlier.
Increased share of women among foreign citizens
On 1 April 2021, the population of Slovenia consisted of 1,058,571 men and 1,048,555 women. The share of women among citizens of Slovenia was 51.1% (this share has been slowly decreasing for a number of years) and among foreign citizens 34,6% (after more than two years of decrease, their share has been increasing since 1 April 2020).
