In January 2021, 5% more building permits issued in Slovenia; the floor area 9% smaller than in December 2020

In January 2021, 4% fewer building permits were issued for residential buildings and 14% more for non-residential buildings than in December 2020. The floor area of residential buildings was 32% smaller and of non-residential buildings 22% larger than in December 2020.

In January 2021, the floor area of planned buildings smaller than in December 2020

The total floor area of buildings planned in January 2021 was a little less than 180,000 m2, which is 9% less than in December 2020. The floor area of residential buildings was 32% smaller than in December 2020. It was smaller mainly due to the planned construction of smaller three- and more dwelling buildings, in which in January 2021 more than 100 fewer dwellings were planned than in December 2020. The floor area of non-residential buildings was 22% larger than in December 2020. It was larger mainly due to the planned construction of larger office buildings and non-residential farm buildings.

In January 2021, 98% of all building permits were issued for new constructions and 2% for conversions. In comparison with December 2020, the number of building permits for new constructions increased by 6% and the planned floor area decreased by 6%.

Fewer dwellings planned than in December 2020

By issuing building permits, in January 2021 construction of 332 dwellings was planned, which is 23% fewer than in December 2020. In one-dwelling buildings 249 dwellings were planned, which is 6% fewer than in December 2020. In two- and more dwelling buildings 78 dwellings were planned, which is more than 50% fewer than in December 2020. Fewer dwellings were planned in three- and more dwelling buildings; in January 2021 48 dwellings and in December 2020 149 dwellings. In two-dwelling buildings 30 dwellings were planned (in December 2020 16 dwellings). Five dwellings were planned in non-residential buildings.

By issuing building permits in January 2021, 23% fewer newly built dwellings were planned and the planned floor area of these dwellings was 14% smaller than in December 2020.

Most dwellings to be built in the Podravska statistical region

In January 2021, most dwellings were planned in the Podravska statistical region: 92 dwellings or 28% of all. Podravska was followed by Osrednjeslovenska, where 84 dwellings were planned (25% of all), and Savinjska, where 34 dwellings were planned (10% of all). In other statistical regions fewer dwellings were planned, the fewest in Zasavska and Primorsko-notranjska statistical regions (3 dwellings in each).
