Producer prices of agricultural products in December 2020 on average 5.3% lower than a year ago
In December 2020, the producer prices of agricultural products were on average 5.3% lower than in December 2019. The value of agricultural products purchased in December 2020 was 20.2% lower than in December 2019 and 6.8% lower than in November 2020.
Producer prices of agricultural products on average lower than a year before
In December 2020, the producer prices of agricultural products were on average 5.3% lower than in December 2019. The prices of crop products were on average lower by 4.7% and of animals and animal products by 5.7%.
Potato prices were much lower than a year before (by about a third). Lower were also the prices of fruit (on average by 15.5%), wine (on average by 2.0%) and cereals (on average by 2.3%). The prices of industrial plants were much higher than a year before.
The prices of animals for slaughter decreased on average by 9.6%. Pig prices were lower on average by 31.3 %. Lower were also the prices of cattle (on average by 6.4%) and of poultry (on average by 3.5%).
The prices of animal products dropped on average by 2.2%. The average purchase price of milk was 5.3% lower and was EUR 0.33 per litre. The average purchase price of eggs was 6.6% higher.
In the fourth quarter of 2020 the prices of agricultural products on average 6.3% lower than in the fourth quarter of 2019
The prices of crop products were lower on average by 5.9%. The decrease was caused mostly by lower prices of potato. Lower were also the prices of fruit and vegetables.
The prices of animals and animal products decreased on average by 6.6%. The prices of pigs went down the most. Lower were also the prices of cattle and poultry. Of animals products, the average purchase price of milk was lower and the average purchase price of eggs higher than a year before.
The total value of agricultural products much lower than in December 2019
The total value of agricultural products purchased in December 2020 was 20.2% lower than in December 2019 and 6.8% lower than in November 2020.
The value of purchased products in the group arable farming was about two thirds lower than in December 2019. In comparison with the previous year, the value of industrial plants went down the most. Much lower were also the values of cereals and vegetables. The value of purchased potato was much higher than a year before, because a higher quantity of the product was purchased (the average purchase price of potato was lower than in December 2019).
The value of purchased products in the group fruit and wine growing was 14.8% lower than in December 2019. The value decreased due to the lower value of purchased alcoholic beverages. Lower was also the value of purchased grape for industry. The value of purchased fruit was 9.6% higher because a higher quantity of the product was purchased.
The value of purchased products in the group livestock breeding was 7.4% lower than in December 2019. The value of purchased livestock was lower by 12.4% and the value of purchased poultry by 8.3%. The value of purchased milk decreased by 2.7% due to the lower average purchase price of milk.
