Average gross earnings for November 2020 11.4% higher than earnings for the previous month

Average gross earnings for November 2020 amounted to EUR 2,028.42. They were higher than gross earnings for October 2020, in nominal terms by 11.4% and in real terms by 12.3%. The highest earnings were paid in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.

Average earnings for November 2020 were higher than earnings for October 2020 mainly due to higher extra payments and payments of higher allowances related to the COVID-19 epidemic
Average gross earnings for November 2020 amounted to EUR 2,028.42. Compared to gross earnings for October 2020, they were higher in nominal terms by 11.4% and in real terms by 12.3%. Average net earnings for November 2020 amounted to EUR 1,328.04 and were higher than net earnings for October 2020, in nominal terms by 12.4% and in real terms by 13.3%.

Such a difference between average earnings for October 2020 and average earnings for November 2020 was largely due to higher extra payments (13th month payments and Christmas bonuses) paid with earnings for November 2020 (especially in the private sector) and payments of higher allowances related to the COVID-19 epidemic (especially in the public sector).

Extra payments paid with earnings for November 2020 were received by 21.5% of persons in paid employment who received earnings (i.e. 1.8 percentage points fewer than in November 2019). Average extra payments paid with earnings for November 2020 amounted to EUR 756.97 gross. Compared to average gross extra payments for November 2019, they were higher by 4.6%.

Compared to earnings for October 2020, average gross earnings for November 2020 increased in both sectors, in the private sector by 12.0% and in the public sector by 10.5% (in the institutional sector general government they went up by 9.4%).

Average earnings increased the most in human health and social work activities
The highest average gross earnings for November 2020 were paid in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 3,123.34), followed by financial and insurance activities (EUR 3,014.63).

Compared to earnings for October 2020, average gross earnings for November 2020 (mainly due to the payments of higher allowances related to the COVID-19 epidemic) increased the most in human health and social work activities (by 26.9%); they decreased only in arts, entertainment and recreation (by 1.5%).
