Average gross earnings for July 2020 about the same as earnings for June 2020

Average gross earnings for July 2020 amounted to EUR 1,811.28. They were lower than gross earnings for June 2020 in nominal terms by 0.1% and about the same as gross earnings for June 2020 in real terms.

Average earnings for July 2020 about the same as earnings for the previous month
Average gross earnings for July 2020 amounted to EUR 1,811.28. Compared to gross earnings for June 2020 they were lower in nominal terms by 0.1% and about the same as gross earnings for June 2020 in real terms. Average net earnings for July 2020 amounted to EUR 1,176.25 and were higher than net earnings for June 2020, in nominal terms by 0.1% and in real terms by 0.2%.

Average earnings for July 2020 did not change significantly compared to earnings for June 2020 also due to the fact that the same measures related to the COVID-19 epidemic (subsidy for part-time work and temporary lay-off benefit) applied in both periods.

If average earnings were calculated by the number of persons in paid employment on the basis of paid hours (and not on the basis of the number of persons in paid employment), average gross earnings for July 2020 would be lower than average gross earnings for June 2020 by 0.6% (in nominal terms).

Average earnings for July 2020 higher than earnings for June 2020 only in the private sector
Compared to earnings for June 2020, average gross earnings for July 2020 increased in the private sector by 1.4% and decreased in the public sector by 2.3%.

Average gross earnings for July 2020 the highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply
The highest average gross earnings for July 2020 were paid in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 2,577.01), although in that activity average gross earnings (compared to average gross earnings for the previous month) decreased the most (by 11.3%; mainly due to lower extra payments paid with earnings for July 2020).

Compared to average gross earnings for June 2020, average gross earnings for July 2020 increased the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 8.2%). If average gross earnings for July 2020 were calculated by the number of persons in paid employment on the basis of paid hours (and not on the basis of the number of persons in paid employment), they would be higher in that activity only by 1.2%.
