Performance of enterprises by activity, Slovenia, 2nd quarter 2020

Arts, entertainment and recreation with operating loss, operating revenues represented 89% of operating expenses

Due to the Covid-19 crisis, in some activities in the 2nd quarter of 2020 larger differences in the values of indicators were observed. Labour costs in accommodation and food service activities were 32% higher than value added (in 2nd quarter 2019 they represented only 67% of value added).

Accommodation and food service activities with a lot higher value of the labour costs in value added; labour costs were 32% higher than value added (in 2nd quarter 2019 they represented only 67% of value added)

Operating revenues in accommodation and food service activities represented only 77% of operating expenses; in 2nd quarter 2019 they were 9% higher than operating expenses. Capital intensity was also higher; labour costs represented 45% of operating expenses (in 2nd quarter 2019 35%). A lot higher were also labour costs in value added; labour costs were 32% higher than value added (in 2nd quarter 2019 they represented only 67% of value added). Value added in net sales revenues was also higher; in 2nd quarter 2020 it represented 54% of net sales revenues and one year before 47% of net sales revenues. 

Arts, entertainment and recreation also with operating loss and with labour costs 3% higher than value added

Operating revenues were lower than operating expenses also in arts, entertainment and recreation; they represented only 89% of operating expenses. In the previous quarter they still had operating profit, as operating revenues were 5% higher than operating expenses and in 2nd quarter 2019 4% higher than operating expenses. Labour costs represented 32% of operating expenses; in the previous quarter 25%. Labour costs were 3% higher than value added; in the previous quarter labour costs still represented only 65% of value added. Value added represented 41% of net sales revenues and in the previous quarter 37%.

Market-oriented enterprises engaged in human health and social work activities with higher capital intensity; labour costs represented 51% of operating revenues

Operating revenues in market-oriented enterprises engaged in human health and social work activities were 2% higher than operating expenses (in the previous quarter they were 14% and in 2nd quarter 2019 12% higher). Capital intensity was higher; labour costs represented 51% of operating revenues (in the previous quarter and in 2nd quarter 2019 only 47%). Labour costs in value added were also higher. Labour costs represented only 82% of value added, and in the previous quarter only 66% of value added.
