In response to the increased needs of users for up-to-date data on deaths during the COVID-19 situation, the Statistical Office started to publish monthly data on deaths and live births by days. In the SiStat Database, the already existing tables on live births and deaths by days have been updated with provisional data for the first seven months of 2020. In the future we plan to publish the data monthly.
In April 2020, Eurostat launched an initiative to provide voluntary data on the number of deaths by weeks. Slovenia has joined this initiative and has provided final data on deaths by weeks from 2000 to 2019. In August 2020, we provided provisional data for the first three months of 2020 and from September on we will provide provisional data on weekly mortality on a monthly basis.
