2.9% more milk collected in June 2020 than in June 2019
Around 48,600 tons of milk was collected from agricultural holdings in June 2020. Slovene dairies produced more milk products than in June 2019 but less than in May 2020.
Quantity of milk collected from farms in June 2020 higher than in June 2019
In June 2020 around 48,600 tons of cows’ milk was collected from agricultural holdings, which was 2.9% more than in June 2019 but 5.5% less than in the previous month.
In June 2020 the fat and protein content of milk increased compared to June 2019
Milk collected in June 2020 contained 4.04% of fat and 3.37% of protein. Compared to milk collected in the previous month, both shares decreased, while compared to milk collected in June 2019, both shares increased. Compared to the milk collected in the first half of 2019, in the first half of 2020 fat content decreased and protein content increased.
With the exception of milk powder, dairies produced less milk products in June 2020 than in the previous month
In June 2020 Slovene dairies produced around 6% less cream and butter and around 7% less acidified milk. Drinking milk production decreased by almost 3% and cheese production by almost 2%.
Compared to June 2019, production of most milk products increased
Compared to June 2019, production in dairies mostly increased. Dairies produced around 10% more cream, more than 2% more drinking milk and acidified milk, and 1% more cheese. Only the production of milk powder and of butter decreased (by 69% and almost 3%, respectively).
In the first half of 2020 dairies produced 4% less drinking milk (3,400 tons) than in the same period last year. The production of milk powder decreased by 16% and of cream and acidified milk increased by 1% to 2%. Butter and cheese production was almost the same in the first half of 2020 as in the same period last year.
Milk on the international market

Dairies in the EU collected 2% more cows’ milk in the first five months of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019 and also increased the production of most milk products. Average price of raw milk in the EU decreased in May 2020 (by 1.8%). It was EUR 0.329 per kg and is expected to decrease also in June 2020.
