Due to the easing of some measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, in May 2020 turnover from the sale of services was higher by 10.4% compared to April 2020. At the annual level it was lower for the third month in a row, this time by 22.6%.
In May 2020 turnover from the sale of services higher than in the previous month
After the 18.8% decrease in April 2020, turnover from the sale of services in May 2020 increased by 10.4%. This is mainly due to the measures related to the coronavirus epidemic, which led to the largest drop in turnover so far in April 2020, being abolished. Turnover increased the most in accommodation and food service activities, by as much as 157.4%, as this activity was the most paralyzed due to the epidemic in April 2020. It was also higher in professional, scientific and technical activities (by 11.4%), in administrative and support service activities (by 8.0%), in transportation and storage activities (by 5.5%) and in information and communication activities (by 4.0%). Compared to the previous month it was lower only in real estate activities (by 7.2%).
Turnover from the sale of services in May 2020 at the annual level lower again
Turnover from the sale of services was lower at the annual level. It was lower for the third month in a row, this time by 22.6%. As at the monthly level, also at the annual level accommodation and food service activities were the most affected by the epidemic. Compared to the same month last year, turnover in these activities decreased by 63.9% (in food and beverage service activities it was lower by 49.6% and in accommodation activities by as much as 87.3%). It was significantly lower also in administrative and support service activities (by 36.3%), mainly due to a distinctly lower turnover in travel agencies, which dropped by as much as 94.5%. Turnover was also lower in all other service activities: in real estate activities (by 25.3%), in transport and storage activities (by 20.8%), in professional, scientific and technical activities (by 11.1%) and in information and communication activities (by 7.3%).
