In May 2020, 12% less net electricity generated than in May 2019
Compared to the same month last year, electricity production in May 2020 decreased by 12%. The supply of oil derivatives, which followed consumption, declined: motor gasoline by 31%.
Total net electricity generation in May 2020 12% lower than a year ago
In May 2020, total net electricity generation was 1,232 GWh. Compared to April 2020 it increased by 12% and compared to May 2019 it decreased by 12%.
Compared to May 2019, generation in hydro power plants was 13% lower, in thermal power plants 32% lower and in the nuclear power plant about the same.
Consumption in May 2020 was 1,011 GWh. Compared to the previous month it increased by 2%. In May 2019, consumption was 1,176 GWh, 14% higher than in May 2020.
In line with the lower production in thermal power plants, fuel consumption also decreased. Total fuel consumption in May 2020 was 31% lower than in May 2019.
In May 2020, 567 GWh of electricity was imported and 752 GWh was exported. Import decreased by 21%, export by 18% compared to May 2019.
Energy supply in May 2020 lower than in April 2020 and in May 2019
In May 2020, compared with the previous month, the supply of some energy commodities still went down, following a consumption decrease: 39% with Kerosene Jet Fuel.
Compared to May 2019, the supply of Kerosene Jet Fuel decreased by 83% and of motor gasoline by 31%, mainly still due to the current situation in the country (COVID-19).
