In December 2019 the confidence indicators in retail trade and construction increased over November 2019.
Manufacturing confidence indicator the same at the monthly and lower at the annual level
In December 2019 the manufacturing confidence indicator stayed the same as in the previous month and was 9 percentage points (p.p.) lower than in December 2018. It was 3 p.p. below the long-term average.
The production expectation and the stocks of finished products indicators improved (by 5 and 4 p.p., respectively). The overall order books indicator worsened (by 7 p.p.).
Retail trade confidence indicator higher than in the previous month
In December 2019 the retail trade confidence indicator was 16 p.p. higher than in November 2019. Compared to December 2018 it was 4 p.p. higher and was 8 p.p. above the long-term average. The increase in the confidence indicator was mostly influenced by the sales indicator.
The values of the situation and expectation indicators mostly increased, except the expected employment indicator, the expected business situation indicator and the expected sales indicator, which decreased. The volume of stocks indicator remained stable.
Construction confidence indicator higher at the monthly and lower at the annual level
In December 2019 the construction confidence indicator was 1 p.p. higher than in November 2019, 9 p.p. lower than in December 2018 and 20 p.p. above the long-term average.
The confidence indicator at the monthly level increased primarily due to the employment expectations indicator (up by 1 p.p.), while the overall order books indicator stayed the same as in the previous month.
Services confidence indicator lower than in the previous month
In December 2019 the services confidence indicator was 2 p.p. lower than in November 2019. Compared to December 2018, it was 8 p.p. lower and 7 p.p. above the long-term average.
The demand indicator and the expected demand indicator decreased (by 3 and 1 p.p., respectively) compared to November 2019, while the business situation indicator remained stable.
