The economic sentiment deteriorated

In September 2019 the sentiment indicator was 1.2 p.p. lower at the monthly level and 3.4 p.p. lower at the annual level.

Sentiment indicator deteriorated at the monthly level

In September 2019 the value of the sentiment indicator (at 4.8 percentage points – p.p.) decreased by 1.2 p.p. compared to August 2019 (at 6.0 p.p.).

The monthly decrease in the sentiment indicator was influenced by the confidence indicator among consumers (by 0.8 p.p.), the confidence indicator in manufacturing (by 0.4 p.p.) and the confidence indicator in retail trade (by 0.2 p.p.). The services confidence indicator had a positive influence (by 0.2 p.p.), while that in construction had no impact.

Sentiment indicator deteriorated also at the annual level

The sentiment indicator decreased by 3.4 p.p. at the annual level.

This decrease was influenced by four indicators out of five; the confidence indicators in services (by 1.5 p.p.), manufacturing (by 1.3 p.p.), construction and among consumers (each by 0.4 p.p.). The confidence indicator in retail trade had a positive influence (by 0.2 p.p.).

Data are seasonally adjusted.

In January 2016, methodological changes were implemented in the Consumer Survey and these can have an impact on the value of the sentiment indicator.
