In the 2nd quarter of 2019 national outgoing mobile traffic increased by 1%, while international outgoing mobile traffic decreased by 3% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2018.
National outgoing mobile traffic higher, international lower
In the 2nd quarter of 2019 19.7 million hours of total outgoing traffic from Slovene mobile networks were recorded. Private users made three quarters of outgoing mobile traffic.
Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2018, the total outgoing traffic from mobile networks increased by 1%. The same is true of national outgoing traffic, while outgoing traffic to international mobile networks decreased by 3%.
The number of SMS and MMS messages increased the most by mobile business users
In the 2nd quarter of 2019 over 671 million SMS messages were sent, 1% fewer than in the 2nd quarter of 2018. Private users sent 3% fewer and business users 10% more SMS messages than in the same quarter of 2018.
In the 2nd quarter of 2019 over 25 million MMS messages were sent, 16% more than in the 2nd quarter of 2018. Private users sent 15% more and business users 20% more MMS messages than in the same quarter of 2018.
51% more gigabytes of data transferred on mobile broadband
In the 2nd quarter of 2019, 29.8 million gigabytes of data were transferred on mobile broadband. Data transfer via Wi-Fi wireless technology is not included. 86% of data transfer was made by private users.
Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2018, data transfer increased by 51%.
38% of broadband Internet connections are optical fiber access connections
At the end of the 2nd quarter of 2019 there were almost 619,000 broadband Internet connections in Slovenia. 38% of them were optical fiber access connections.
In one year the total number of broadband Internet connections increased by 2%, and the number of optical fiber access connections by 13%. The number of XDSL connections decreased by 5% and the number of cable modem connections by 2%.
