Import price indices, Slovenia, July 2019

In July 2019 import prices 0.2% lower at the monthly level and 1.3% lower at the annual level

In July 2019 import prices were on average 0.2% lower than in June 2019. Compared to July 2018, import prices were also lower, on average by 1.3%.

Import prices in July 2019 0.2% lower than in the previous month

Compared to June 2019, in July 2019 import prices were on average 0.2% lower. At the monthly level, the prices of products supplied from the euro area were lower by 0.3%. The prices of products imported from the non-euro area were lower by 0.1%.

Import prices decreased the most in the group crude petroleum and natural gas (by 14.4%), followed by leather and related products (by 2.0%), other transport equipment (by 1.9%), and chemicals and chemical products (by 1.2%). Prices increased the most in the group electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 12.0%), followed by coke and refined petroleum products (by 1.9%), and wearing apparel (by 1.4%).

As regard groups of activities showing the dynamics of prices by end-use, in July 2019 intermediate goods prices decreased by 0.7% and consumer goods prices by 0.3%, energy prices increased by 1.4%, while capital goods prices remained the same.

Import prices in July 2019 1.3% lower than a year ago

From July 2018 to July 2019 import prices decreased on average by 1.3%. The prices of products supplied from the euro area were lower by 1.4%. The prices of products imported from the non-euro area were lower by 1.2%.

In one year the prices of imports decreased the most in the group crude petroleum and natural gas (by 35.4%), followed by leather and related products (by 14.6%), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 10.3%), and wearing apparel (by 7.0%). Prices increased the most in the group other mining and quarrying products (by 4.5%), followed by food products (by 3.4%), and textiles (2.9%).
