In 2018, 29% more construction work was performed than in 2017
In 2018, construction enterprises in Slovenia performed EUR 2,571 million worth of construction work, which is 29% more than in 2017. The value of construction work grew for the second consecutive year and it was 1% higher than in 2010.
More construction work performed on buildings than on civil engineering works
Construction enterprises in Slovenia performed EUR 2,571 million worth of construction work on all constructions, which is 29% more than in 2017. EUR 1,351 million of construction work was done on buildings (35% more than in 2017) and EUR 1,220 million on civil engineering works (23% more than in 2017).
Most of the construction work, amounting to EUR 906 million, was in 2018 performed on non-residential buildings (38% more than in 2017). Compared to 2017, in 2018 the highest increase (57%) was observed on other civil engineering works.
The value of construction put in place on buildings up by 35%
At the annual level, the value of construction put in place on buildings in Slovenia in 2018 increased by 35%. The value of construction put in place on residential buildings increased by 28%; on one-dwelling buildings it increased by 15% and on two- and more-dwelling buildings by 53%, while the value of construction put in place on residences for communities decreased by 15%.
The value of construction put in place on non-residential buildings in 2018 increased by 38% compared to 2017. Among non-residential buildings, most construction work in 2018 was done on industrial buildings and warehouses (EUR 318 million or 59% more than in 2017), office buildings (EUR 165 million or 42% more than in 2017), and wholesale and retail trade buildings (EUR 160 million or 23% more than in 2017).
The value of construction put in place on civil engineering works up by 23%
In 2018, 23% more construction work was performed on civil engineering works than in 2017. Among civil engineering works most construction work, amounting to EUR 770 million, was performed on transport infrastructures (38% more than in 2017). On other civil engineering works EUR 71 million construction work was performed, which is 57% more than in 2017. Less construction work was performed on complex constructions on industrial sites (9% or EUR 46 million less) and on pipelines, communication and electricity lines EUR 333 million (0.3% less than in 2017).
