48% of enterprise births in 2012 survived after five years

85% of enterprises born in 2016 were still operating in 2017. 63.6% of enterprises born in 2014 were operating after three years and 48.2% of enterprises born in 2012 were operating after five years.

In 2017, 1.1% fewer enterprise births than in 2016
In 2017, 18,430 enterprise births were recorded in industry, construction and services (SKD 2008 sections of activities B–N and P–S), 1.1% fewer than in the previous year. As regards the economic activity, the number of enterprise births decreased the most in wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (by 143) and in other service activities (by 141). Among all enterprises in 2017, 10.9% were enterprise births.

In 2017, 84% of enterprise births were recorded in service activities, among them the most in professional, scientific and technical activities (4,060), in wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (2,253) and in accommodation and food service activities (1,934). 8% of enterprise births were recorded in industry and 8% in construction.

In 2017, enterprise births employed 20,123 persons, 1.8% fewer than in 2016. The average size of enterprise births was one person employed.

Most enterprises survived in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (81.5% of enterprise births were active after five years), in real estate activities (62.6% of enterprise births were active after five years) and in manufacturing (57.5% of enterprise births were active after five years). In enterprise births operating after five years the number of persons employed increased by 76.6% (from 8,651 in 2012 to 15,278 in 2017).

In 2017, most enterprise deaths in professional, scientific and technical activities
According to provisional data, 10,045 enterprise deaths were recorded in 2017. The average size of enterprise deaths was one person employed. In 2017, 47.8% of enterprise deaths were recorded in three activities: in professional, scientific and technical activities, in accommodation and food service activities and in wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
