Eurostat confirms: government surplus in 2018 for Slovenia EUR 337 million

After the conclusion of the regular data explanation procedure with Eurostat, within the Excessive Deficit Procedure, the government sector in 2018 generated a surplus of EUR 337 million or 0.7% of GDP. According to the MoF, government surplus will increase in 2019 to EUR 394 million or 0.8% of GDP.

In the context of bilateral data explanation procedure on Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP) with Eurostat, the first estimate for 2018, which was published by SURS at the end of March 2018, changed upward by EUR 34 million. In 2018 the Republic of Slovenia generated a surplus in the amount of EUR 337 million or 0.7% of GDP. Government debt was at the end of 2018 estimated at EUR 32,232 million or 70.1% of GDP.

 

Within the current release we also publish the forecast on general government deficit and debt in 2019 by the Ministry of Finance (MoF). In 2019 general government will generate surplus in the amount of EUR 394 million or 0.8% of GDP. According to the MoF government debt in nominal terms will decrease at the end of 2019 to EUR 31,909 million or 65.4% of GDP.

 

The data on the general government deficit and debt within the current release was changed compared to those published at the end of March 2019. The structure of annual and quarterly data on government revenue and expenditure at the subsector level of the main aggregates of general government was revised for 2018. In line with this revision data in the SI-STAT Database were aligned.
