In 2018 about 4,000 pigs more were slaughtered in Slovene slaughterhouses than in 2017
About 1,000 horses, 116,000 cattle, 250,000 pigs, 12,000 sheep, 1,000 goats, 12,000 rabbits and 38,200,000 poultry were slaughtered in Slovene slaughterhouses in 2018.
In 2018 the total slaughter in Slovenia was about 1,000 horses (about 19% or about 300 animals fewer at the annual level), about 250,000 pigs (about 2% or about 4,000 animals more at the annual level), about 12,000 sheep (exactly 8% or about 1,000 animals more at the annual level), about 1,000 goats (about 55% or about 400 animals more at the annual level), about 11,000 rabbits (about 3% or about 300 animals more at the annual level), about 38,200,000 poultry (about 1% or about 262,000 animals fewer at the annual level) and about 116,000 cattle (about 4% or about 4,000 animals fewer at the annual level).
Changes in total carcass weight follow the changes in the shares of the number of slaughtered animals in 2018.

Data on the slaughter of animals in large slaughterhouses are collected with monthly reports sent by slaughterhouses. Data on the slaughter of animals in smaller slaughterhouses are acquired from the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Food Safety, Veterinary and Plant Protection (AFSVPP). Data on bovine slaughter are acquired from the Bovine Administrative Register (BAR), which is kept by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food (MAFF).
