Average gross earnings for December 2018 1.7% lower than earnings for November 2018

Average gross earnings for December 2018 amounted to EUR 1,782.12 and were lower than earnings for November 2018; in nominal terms by 1.7% and in real terms by 1.1%. Average monthly gross earnings for 2018 were higher than earnings for 2017; in nominal terms by 3.4% and in real terms by 1.7%.

Average earnings for December 2018 lower than earnings for November 2018 mostly due to the lower share of extra payments
Average gross earnings for December 2018 amounted to EUR 1,782.12. Compared to gross earnings for November 2018 they were lower in nominal terms by 1.7% and in real terms by 1.1%. Average net earnings for December 2018 amounted to EUR 1,162.67. Compared to net earnings for November 2018 they were lower in nominal terms by 2.0% and in real terms by 1.4%.

The decrease in average earnings for December 2018 (compared to average earnings for November 2018) was mainly due to less extra payments (13th month payments and Christmas bonuses) paid with earnings for December.

Average monthly gross earnings for 2018 amounted to EUR 1,681.55. Compared to earnings for 2017 they were higher in nominal terms by 3.4% and in real terms by 1.7%. Average monthly net earnings for 2018 amounted to EUR 1,092.74. Compared to earnings for 2017 they were higher in nominal terms by 2.9% and in real terms by 1.2%.

Compared to earnings for 2017, the increase in average monthly earnings for 2018 more noticeable in the private sector
Compared to earnings for 2017, average monthly net earnings for 2018 were higher in both sectors: in the private sector by 3.5% and in the public sector by 2.6% (in the institutional sector general government they were higher by 1.9%).

Average monthly earnings for 2018 higher than earnings for 2017 in all activities
Average monthly net earnings for 2018 increased in all activities (compared to earnings for 2017); the least in education (by 0.7%) and the most in mining and quarrying (by 7.0%).

The highest average monthly net earnings for that period were paid in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (they amounted to EUR 1,581.90).

Average monthly net earnings for 2018 were higher than the national average only in two statistical regions
Compared to earnings for 2017, average monthly net earnings for 2018 increased in all statistical regions, the most in the Pomurska statistical region (by 3.5%). They were higher than the national average only in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region (by 8.4%) and in the statistical region Jugovzhodna Slovenija (by 0.2%).
