In November 2018 the number of persons in employment up by 0.3% over the previous month

In November 2018 the number of persons in employment in Slovenia was 887,953. Compared to the previous month it increased by 0.3% and compared to November 2017 by 3.1% (by about 26,900).

Compared to the previous month, the number of men in employment increased by 0.3% (to around 488,000) and the number of women in employment by 0.2% (to around 399,900).

An overview by activities shows that compared to October 2018 the number of persons in employment in Slovenia in November 2018 increased in thirteen and decreased in seven activities. Compared to November 2017, the number of persons in employment decreased in three and increased in seventeen activities, the most in manufacturing, by about 8,000.

In the last five years the number of young people in employment increased by 65%

4.7% (around 42,100) of persons in employment are young people between 15 and 24 years of age. Among them, 70% are men and 30% are women. Approximately 95% are employed and only 5% are self-employed.

An overview by activities shows that most young people in employment work in manufacturing (31% or about 12,900). 14% of them work in trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (almost 5,800), 11% in construction (just over 4,600), 8% in catering (about 3,300) and 8% in other diversified business activities (almost 3,200).

Compared to November 2017, the number of young people in employment increased by 13.5% (by about 5,000). The number of men increased by 14% and the number of women by 11%. In the last five years the number of young people in employment increased by 65% (by about 16,600).
