Exports and imports in November 2018 higher than in November 2017

In the first eleven months of 2018 Slovenian exports and imports increased over the same period of 2017, namely exports by 9.7% and imports by 11.4%.

Trade in goods in November 2018 higher than in November 2017

Slovenia’s exports and imports in November 2018 were higher than in November 2017. Exports were higher by 9.1% and amounted to EUR 2,796.6 million, while imports were higher by 8.2% and amounted to EUR 2,802.6 million. The value of both exports and imports in November 2018 was also higher than the average values of monthly exports and imports in 2017 (exports by 18.7% and imports by 21.8%).

In November 2018 Slovenia generated already the fourth external trade deficit in 2018; this time it amounted to EUR 6.0 million. The deficit in trade in goods was influenced mostly by increased imports from EU Member States. The November deficit was the lowest in 2018. The export/import ratio in November 2018 was 99.8%.

Trade in goods in November 2018 higher than in November 2017 in trade with EU Member States and with EU non-member countries

In November 2018 Slovenia generated 76.0% of all exports and 77.1% of all imports in trade with the EU Member States. Slovenia exported to EU Member States 6.8% more goods than in November 2017 and imported from these countries 3.0% more goods than in November 2017. The value of goods exported to EU Member States amounted to EUR 2,125.3 million and the value of goods imported from EU Member States to EUR 2,161.9 million.

The value of goods exported to EU non-member countries in November 2018 amounted to EUR 671.3 million and of goods imported from EU non-member countries to EUR 640.7 million. Exports to EU non-member countries thus increased by 17.1% and imports by 30.8% compared to November 2017.

In the first eleven months of 2018 Slovenia recorded an external trade surplus

Slovenia's exports and imports in January-November 2018 both increased compared to the same period of 2017. Exports were higher by 9.7% and amounted to EUR 28,596.7 million, while imports were higher by 11.4% and amounted to EUR 28,242.5 million.

The external trade surplus in the first eleven months of 2018 was EUR 354.1 million and the export/import ratio was 101.3%. The external trade surplus was recorded in all months except in May, September, October and November.
