In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Slovenian residents went on more than 2 million private trips

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Slovenian residents aged 15 years or more went on around 2,060,000 private trips. Around 701,000 of them were made in Slovenia and around 1,060,000 in Croatia.

More than a million Slovenian residents went on private trips
In the 3rd quarter of 2018 around 1,026,000 persons or 58% of the total resident population aged 15 years or more went on at least one private trip, which is 5 percentage points more than in the 3rd quarter of 2017. During this period they made around 2,060,000 private trips (i.e. 8% more than in the 3rd quarter of 2017) and generated around 12.1 million overnight stays. A private trip included on average 5.9 overnight stays.

700,000 private trips in Slovenia, over a million in Croatia

A third of all private trips were held in Slovenia (around 701,000), while the remaining two thirds (around 1,358,000) were held abroad. The main destination country for almost four out of five private trips abroad (around 1,060,000) was Croatia. Private trips in Slovenia took on average 3.2 overnight stays, while private trips in Croatia took on average 6.9 overnight stays.

Tourists staying in hotels spent on average EUR 83 per day
Private trip participants spent on average EUR 43 per day. Those staying in hotels and similar accommodation establishments spent the most (EUR 83 per day) and those staying in their own secondary homes the least (EUR 16 per day). The highest share in the structure of expenditure was that of expenditure for accommodation (43%). Transport expenditure accounted for 22%, expenditure for food and drinks in restaurants and cafes for 18% and expenditure for other services and shopping for 17%.

Private same-day visits
In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Slovenian residents aged 15 years or more also went on around 2,104,000 private same-day visits in Slovenia and on around 506,000 private same-day visits abroad. Average expenditure on private same-day visits in Slovenia amounted to around EUR 33 per person and average expenditure on private same-day visits abroad to around EUR 51 per person.
