Eurostat confirmed: Government surplus in 2017 the same as published in September (0.1% of GDP)
At the end of the October EDP notification Eurostat confirmed SURS’s data on main aggregates of the general government for 2014–2017. The data published by SURS on 25 September 2018 remain unchanged. Within the October EDP report we are publishing also the Ministry of Finance forecast for 2018.
After the conclusion of the regular October 2018 EDP assessment period, the second estimate of the general government deficit and debt in 2017 remains the same as published in September. Government surplus in 2017 was estimated at EUR 28 million or 0.1% of GDP. Government debt was estimated at EUR 31,859 million or 74.1% of GDP. Data for previous years (2014–2016) also remained the same.
Within the October EDP report the forecast for 2018 by the Ministry of Finance is also available: government surplus in 2018 will amount to EUR 235 million EUR or 0.5% of GDP. Government debt at the end of this year is estimated at EUR 32,147 million or 70.3% of GDP.
