In the second quarter of 2018 natural increase and net migration positive, namely by 89 and 2,677, respectively.
Fewer live births and more deaths
In the second quarter of 2018, 4,852 live births and 4,763 deaths were recorded in Slovenia. Compared to the second quarter of 2017, the number of live births was 260 (5.1%) lower, and the number of deaths was higher by120 (2.6%). In a year natural increase went down from 0.9 per 1,000 population to 0.2 per 1,000 population.
More marriages and fewer divorces than in the same quarter of the previous year
In the second quarter of 2018, 2,637 couples were married and 615 couples were divorced. Compared to the second quarter of 2017, the number of marriages increased by 329 and the number of divorces decreased by 11.
Decrease in internal migration
In the second quarter of 2018, 25,545 people migrated internally, which is 2.5% less than in the same period of 2017.
Net migration of Slovenian citizens negative for the twentyninth consecutive quarter
Compared to the same period of 2017, the number of immigrants to Slovenia increased by 46% to 6,012 in the second quarter of 2018. The number of emigrants increased by 2.5% to 3,335. The number of emigrated citizens of Slovenia (1,611) was lower than the number of emigrated foreigners (1,724).
Positive net migration was recorded for foreign nationals (3,339 persons), while 662 Slovene citizens more emigrated from Slovenia than immigrated to it.
