In August 2018 economic sentiment unchanged at the monthly level
In August 2018 the sentiment indicator remained stable compared to the previous month, while it was 1.1 percentage points lower than in August 2017. Economic sentiment remains well above the long-term average (by 11.8 percentage points).
Sentiment indicator unchanged at the monthly level
In August 2018 the value of the sentiment indicator (10.5 percentage points) remained the same as in July 2018. It was 11.8 p.p. above the long-term average.
Confidence indicators in manufacturing and services had a positive influence on the monthly change of the sentiment indicator (by 0.4 and 0.1 p.p., respectively). The consumer confidence indicator had a negative influence (by 0.4 p.p.), while confidence indicators in retail trade and construction had no impact on the monthly change.
Sentiment indicator lower at the annual level
In August 2018 the sentiment indicator was 1.1 p.p. lower than in August 2017.
The decrease in the sentiment indicator was influenced mostly by the confidence indicators in manufacturing and retail trade (by 0.8 and 0.4 p.p., respectively), while confidence indicators in services and among consumers had a more marginal negative influence (each by 0.1 p.p.). The construction confidence indicator had a positive influence on the annual change (by 0.2 p.p.).
