Low self-sufficiency rates shown by supply balance sheets for fresh fruits (21%), vegetables (39%) and honey (45%)
In 2017 Slovene citizen consumed on average the most cereals, i.e. 121 kg, and also 113 kg of vegetables, 71 kg of fresh fruits, 93 kg of meat, 68 kg of potato, 12 kg of eggs and almost 1 kg of honey.
Especially low self-sufficiency rates for fresh fruits, vegetables, honey and potato
Especially low rates of self-sufficiency were shown by supply balance sheets for fresh fruits, vegetables, honey and potato in 2017; for fresh fruits it was 21%, for vegetables 39%, for honey 45% and for potato 50%.
63-percent rate of self-sufficiency for cereals
Domestic production of cereals reached almost 550,000 tons in 2017, and the domestic consumption excided 865,000 tons according to the provisional data, therefore the self-sufficiency rate was quite low, 63-percent. Production of fresh fruits amounted to around 40,000 tons in the same year, and the domestic consumption more than 185,000 tons, therefore the self-sufficiency rate was very low, 21-percent.
Slightly lower per capita consumption of potato, meat and honey
In 2017 Slovene citizen consumed on average also 93 kg of meat, 68 kg of potato, 12 kg of eggs and almost 1 kg of honey.
